VARSITY VOLLEYBALL: Conquerors Win 2nd Consecutive District Championship

TCA Conquerors Varsity Volleyball captured its second consecutive district championship Thursday night with a hard-fought five-set victory over a mighty Stallions squad from the Providence School of Jacksonville.

The Conquerors won the first two sets, but they were not easy: 26-24 and 25-19. One set away from elimination, Providence came right back and won the next two 25-23 and 25-21. All four sets were tight the entire way.

In the decisive fifth set, Trinity pulled away and won 15-8 to capture the title.

The win was the 23rd of the season for the Conquerors, which follows a record-tying win total of 21 for the regular season and is one shy of the team record for total wins in a season (24 in 2016).

The district title is also the third overall for the Conquerors, who won the title in 2016. The Conquerors of 2017, 2018, and 2019 finished as runners-up.

Last year, the Conquerors won the opening round of the regional playoffs over Florida State University High School and fell in the region final to Pensacola Catholic school, tying the 2016 season for deepest playoff run in team history. This season, the Conquerors are primed to surpass that mark.

The region playoffs begin on Tuesday, October 25, when Trinity Christian hosts Florida State University High School at 7:00 p.m.

NOTE: All employees and students must purchase a ticket to attend the game as it is part of the official FHSAA State Series Tournament. Tickets can be purchased through TCA’s page on GoFan.co.
