Both the JV and the varsity Conquerors won their matches in straight sets.

VARSITY: Trinity 3, First Coast (25-10, 25-6, 25-11)

Combs earned Player of the Game honors with her stellar play at the net assisting teammates Amaya Ross, Alli Carter, and Amaria King numerous times with potential kills that helped lead Trinity to victory.

In Set 1, the Conquerors took an early 6-3 lead and soon found themselves up 8-4. During an extended 9-1 run, Ross served up 6 straight points to help Trinity build its lead to 17-5 before losing the serve. Sheridan Beck then served the Conquerors to a 23-8 lead. First Coast scored twice, but the Conquerors put the set away at 25-10 to take a 1-0 lead.

In Set 2, the Conquerors started off with 10-1 lead and then led 12-2 and 14-4. At that point, Carter started a run of 10 consecutive points served to make the score 24-4. First Coast held off the final point for a bit, but the Conquerors won it 25-6 and took a commanding 2-0 lead in sets.

Trinity scored the first five points of Set 3 then surged to a big 17-2 lead thanks to an 11-pt. service run from Milligan to cap her Senior Night performance. First Coast battled hard to stave off the Conquerors’ straight-set win by outscoring Trinity 9-8 from that point on. However, First Coast’s final hit sailed out of bounds behind the end line for match point as Trinity won 3-0.

JUNIOR VARSITY: Trinity 2-0 (25-11, 25-9)

In the JV match, Jenna Brannon served nine consecutive points after First Coast scored first and the Conquerors tied it 1-1. Brannan’s run made the score 10-1, and Trinity then built its lead to 15-4 before First Coast broke the run. The two teams traded points to a 19-9 Trinity lead. Alasia McGruder served two points to make it 22-9, and Trinity soon won Set 1 25-11 on a serve from Brannan and Maggie Gracyalny‘s kill for the final point.

Jenna Brannon was a serving sensation in JV’s big win.

Set 2 stated with a 3-1 run for First Coast. Trinity, however, came back to tie the score at 4-4 and then take a 6-4 lead. A trade-off of points saw the Conquerors go up 9-6 then 11-9.
